PE
Intent
- To provide an inclusive, broad and balanced curriculum that ensures all children benefit from enhancing existing skills or being introduced to new sports, clubs, teams and organisations.
- Children will understand the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle and foster a lifelong love of fitness and wellbeing.
- We are part of Ashton Park Sports Partnership, which enables children to compete with many local schools and participate in a wide range of inclusive festivals.
- Bristol Sport visit our school weekly, specialist sports coaches deliver PE across the school and children have opportunities to attend professional matches at Ashton Gate.
- We are passionate about the need to teach children how to cooperate and collaborate with others, as part of a team, understanding fairness, positive growth mind-set and respect.
Implementation
- PE is taught twice a week and includes both indoor and outdoor sessions.
- Lesson planning is taken from PE Hub which gives schools access to a broad range of progressive lesson plans designed with direct links to the National Curriculum.
- Bristol Sport visit our school weekly and specialist sports coaches deliver some of our PE.
- We are part of Ashton Park Sports Partnership, which enables children to compete with many local schools and participate in a wide range of inclusive festivals.
- Children in Year 4, 5 and 3 go to Bristol South Swimming pool for weekly swimming lessons, those children who cannot swim 25m in Yr6 are invited for booster sessions.
- We offer a variety of extra-curricular sports clubs examples include; Netball, football, mulit-Skills, dodge ball and many more.
- Children are also given the oppotunity to take part in Forest School once a term.
Swimming
Currently all our year 4, 5 and 6 children go once a week to Bristol South Swimming Pool.
